OR....
Here is a list of fun things you can do everyday this week:
Literacy: Writing: Would you rather be able to speak every language, or play every instrument? Using full sentences, write your answer. Be sure to use the word "because" to explain your reasons. When you are done writing, share it with someone.
AND/OR
Write a note or a message to a family member. Hide it or leave it for them to find in an unexpected place. Example: with their toothbrush, in their shoe, under their pillow
Reading: read or listen to a story. What might have happened before the story began or after the story ended? Use full sentences to tell someone in your home, make sure to include details.
Extra Literacy Fun: Draw a picture of yourself today. Write about 5 things (or more) that make you special.
Math: Five Coins: Suzie has 5 coins in her pocket. How much money does she have? Show your work by drawing the coins, labeling each of them (eg. a quarter is worth 25 cents) and the total value of all 5 coins. Is there another possible solution? How many ways can you solve this problem? Challenge someone at home to try this. Did they solve the problem a different way?
Cookie Decorations: Ella decorated 20 cookies to take to a party. She lined them up and put icing on every second cookie. Then she put a cherry on every third cookie. Then she put a drop of chocolate on every fourth cookie. (She did not have anything on the first cookie). How many other cookies had no decorations? Did any cookies get all three decorations? How do you know? Did you use a picture to figure it out?
STEAM Challenge: Design a bird's nest. This project can be done in two ways - with materials found in your recycle bin or objects found in nature. Use paper scraps or go to nature to find grass, twigs, etc... Test the nest with hardboiled, wooden, or plastic eggs (filled with coins for weight). Can your nest support the weight of the egg?
